What is Tadalafil?
Tadalafil is used as a treatment for adult men with erectile dysfunction. Contradictions:
Tadalafil is contraindicated in patients who
- are allergic to tadalafil
- are taking any form of organic nitrate or nitric oxide donors such as amyl nitrite.
- have serious heart disease or recently had a heart attack within the last 90 days. 20mg 4.5.
- recently had a stroke within the last 6 months and
- have low blood pressure or uncontrolled high blood pressure.
- have ever had a loss of vision because of non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy ( NAION ), a condition described as a “stroke of the eye”.
Precautions and Warnings:
Before taking Tadalafil tablets, tell your doctor if you have:
- sickle cell anaemia, multiple myeloma (cancer of the bone marrow), leukaemia (cancer of the blood cells), any deformation of your penis, a serious ver problem, a severe kidney problem.
- if you are taking any HIV drugs. Taking tadalafil with certain HIV drugs could increase tadalafil levels in your blood. This can lead to low blood pressure, dizziness fainting, and vision problems. In men, it can also lead to priapism. These drugs are protease inhibitors and include ritonavir and lopinavir/ritonavir.
Do not drink alcohol while taking tadalafil as it can lead to heavy dizziness
Tadalafil is not intended for use by women and for use by children under the age of 18
Dosage:
As directed by the physician. The recommended daily dose is one tablet a day. Swallow the tablet with some water for at least 30 minutes before sexual activity. The Tadalafil tablets can be taken with or without food. Tadalafil may still be effective up to 36 hours after taking the tablet.
Do not take Tadalafil more than once a day. Tadalafil is not recommended for continuous daily use.
Overdose:
Cases of Tadalafil overdose are rarely reported, but they can occur accidentally. Taking too much of this medication can increase the risk of side effects as well as adverse motions if you suspect a drug overdose, you should contact your healthcare provider or seek emergency medical attention right away.
Tadalafil Overdose Symptoms
Watch out for symptoms of Tadalafil overdose that include:
- Chest pain
- Dizziness
- Nausea
- Irregular heartbeat
- Fanling light-headed or fainting
It may also increase the risk of common side effects such as:
- Facial flushing
- Muscle pain
- Bad aches, particularly in arms and legs
- Back pain
- Nasal congestion

Managing a Tadalafil Overdose
It is important to report suspected drug overdose right away for appropriate treatment. The health n provider recommends treatment depending on the presenting symptoms of a drug overdose. There is no specific medication that is given for the treatment of Tadalafil overdose. Usually, treatment involves supportive care.
Preventing Overdose
To avoid Tadalafil overdose:
- It is important to understand that this medication stays in the body for up to 72 hours. In general, patients are recommended not to take more than one tablet of tadalafil in a day. There are two types of dosing schedules – daily and as-needed basis.
- Be sure to consult your healthcare provider for specific dosing instructions and read your prescription label carefully. If you do not understand the prescription or have questions, ask your healthcare provider.
- Take the drug exactly as prescribed. Do not increase the dose if it seems that the drug does not seem to work or you want it to work instantly. Remember that tadalafil will not cause an erection. It only helps you achieve an erection when sexually stimulated.
- It is also important to avoid substances that can potentially interfere with the metabolism and mechanism of action of tadalafil. For instance, patients are advised to avoid consuming grapefruit and grapefruit juice. Grapefruit contains a substance that can potentially interfere with the breakdown of tadalafil in the body which can potentially lead to an overdose. If you have taken grapefruit juice, you should avoid using tadalafil for at least three days.
- Do not combine Tadalafil with other medications to treat erectile dysfunction, such as Sildenafil or Vardenafil. Lastly, do not share your prescription with others. Not everyone experiences the same conditions as such each patient should be given a unique treatment regimen.
Possible Side Effects:
Headache, back pain, muscle aches, pain in arms and legs, facial flushing, nasal congestion, indigestion, and reflux.
If you experience any of the following side effects stop using the medicine and seek medical help immediately:
- allergic reactions including rashes
- chest pain,
- sudden loss of vision
- prolonged and possibly painful erection after taking tadalafil (frequency rare).
- If you have such an erection that lasts continuously for more than 4 hours you should contact a doctor immediately.
